BLUFFER’S GUIDE

Broadmeadow Magic will be hoping its second time lucky in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 as they get set for another opening night appearance on Match Day 1. Heading to the Hunter will be ex-NSL club Heidelberg United.

The PS4 NPL Victorian juggernaut are keen to make an impact on their return to the national spotlight, just like their cross-town rivals South Melbourne.

Trying to end that dream is the free-scoring Magic, who have vowed not to alter their swashbuckling approach that has seen them score almost three goals per game in their domestic competition.

There is sure to be entertainment plus in what promises to be a spicy encounter between two attack-minded sides.

WHAT THEY SAY

Robert Virgili (Broadmeadow Magic co-coach): “We are a very direct side and we won’t change.  We’ll try and put it to Heidelberg and see what they’ve got.

“We’ve done a little bit of homework on them. I’m hearing they’re a direct side as well and quite quick up front/

“It could be end to end sort of stuff. We’re hoping if we can get an early goal maybe we can change things a little bit…but we’ve got to be wary on the counter attack.”

George Katsakis (Heidelberg United coach): “We’ve looked into [Broadmeadow Magic], we’ve got some footage sent over of them and asked some questions.

“We’ll definitely work towards that game and hopefully we can get something positive out of it.”
